How to order an image

The State Hermitage gives a right to reproduce images of the exhibits from the museum's collections to the organizations upon written requests only.

In order to get permission to use the images please send your request with exact indication of the goal, circulation and format of the publication on a document form of your organization addressed to the Director of the State Hermitage Museum Mikhail Piotrovsky.

After the consideration of the request we will contact you via phone or e-mail.

The images are provided in the following format:

• Publishing slide 4õ5 inches, with a scale
• Digital image *.Jpeg, *.Tiff, viewing or polygraphic quality (without prepress)

Digital images are stored in the Computer Department and the viewing versions of most of them are available on the museum's web-site on the Digital Collection page.

Types of photography

• - painting (use of polarizing filters is possible)
• sculpture (various types of lighting, shooting in the photo laboratory and at the museum exposition)
• applied art objects (including jewellery)
• interior (retrospective interior shooting)
• exterior (during all the seasons, views from the rooftops of the State Hermitage Museum, shooting from a helicopter)
• report shooting (on the museum's web-site on the News page)

Publishing slides and digital images are subject to the quality control and are demanded by the leading world publishing houses. The copyright of the museum on using the images of the objects from the State Hermitage's collections is protected by the Law of the Russian Federation on Copyright and Related Rights and the Museum Law of the Russian Federation.
