Museum entrance
The main entrance to the museum is housed in the Winter Palace (2 Palace
Square). The entrance is through the gate in the Great Courtyard of the
Winter Palace.
Ticket terminals are located under the arch. It should be noted that you
cannot buy discounted tickets at the terminal.
Ticket offices are located in the Main Entrance Hall
Cloakroom
Entrance to the cloakrooms is through the Main Entrance Hall:
down the staircase is the Large cloakroom,
up the staircase is the Small cloakroom
You must hand over your outer clothing at the cloakroom. Large items:
handbags, briefcases, backpacks, umbrellas and also liquids in any quantity
including drinks should be taken to the storage locker at the cloakrooms.
Entrance to the museum is protected with metal detectors.
If, for medical reasons, you cannot pass through the metal detector, please
inform a member of the security staff.
Ticket control is performed using turnstiles.
The ticket gives you the right for only one entrance through the turnstile
at the museum.
There are special entrances for people with disabilities and children
confined to wheelchairs.
Lifts are located near the main staircases. The nearest lift to
the Main Entrance Hall is located at the start of the Rastrelli Gallery.
Museum services
You have access to shops and cafes on the first floor of the Rastrelli
Gallery and book-stalls in the exposition area.
Information services
The Information Centre is located in the Main Entrance Hall. Here you
can get the museum maps and other information products.
Toilets are located on the first floor by the stairs.

and we can help you arrange a visit and work out the best route to explore
the museum.
Disabled people are entitled to two free tickets if attended by a companion.
Photography and video in the museum
A special ticket entitles you to take amateur photographs or videos. The
ticket for the right of the photo and video is attached with an adhesive
sticker. We recommend attaching the sticker somewhere visible and keep
it there until the end of your visit.
