The General Staff building being under repair and restoration, the State Hermitage exhibitions in it have been closed since 1 January 2010.
Holidays
On holidays and days preceding holidays (except Mondays and January 1),
the museum is open from 10.30 to 17.00
Rules for Visitors
Overclothes should be left at the cloakroom.
It is not allowed to take large objects into the museum: bags, briefcases,
backpacks, umbrellas, liquids in any containers, including drinks. It is requested
to deposit the aforementioned items in the museum's cloakroom.
It is allowed to consume food and drinks only in the territory of the cafe.
Smoking is not allowed in the museum.
Please do not talk over the cell phone at the exhibitions of the museum.
Flash photography is not allowed.
Practical Information
The entrances to the museum are equipped with metal
detectors.
If you have any medical contra-indications against radiation
effects of security frames please inform Security Services employee
about that.
Ticket windows
Sale of entrance tickets (including special price tickets for privileged
categories of visitors) and tickets to excursions for individual visitors
is accomplished via the ticket windows of the museum, located in the Main
entrance hall (entrance through the Grand Court Yard of the Winter Palace).
Reduced-price tickets are sold upon presentation of a document, confirming
the right to a reduction.
Opening hours of ticket windows:
Tuesday - Saturday from 10.30 to 17.00,
on Sunday and days before holidays from 10.30 to 16.00
Ticket control is equipped with turnstiles.
In order to pass through turnstile is it necessary to bring the ticket
bar code down to the window of the reading device.
A ticket gives you a right for single entrance through the turnstile into the territory
of the museum.
For visitors with children in prams and for physically disabled visitors
special entrances are arranged.
Taking photographs and videos in the museum
AMATEUR VIDEOS AND PHOTOGRAPHY
Photography and video filming are permitted only upon possession of a
special permit purchased at the museum ticket window. The ticket for non-professional
photography and video filming is provided with a sticker. It is recommended
to fasten the sticker to some item of your clothes and keep it till the
end of your visit to the Museum.
Flash photography or use of illumination devices not allowed.
COMMERCIAL VIDEO FILMING AND PHOTOGRAPHY
Commercial video filming and photography, replication and publication
of exhibit items in the State Hermitage are possible only with the permission
of the museum administration. Information about the rules for obtaining
permission to reproduce images of museum exhibits can be received by calling
