Generous support rendered to the State Hermitage Museum by its numerous Friends throughout the world in preserving the priceless collections is an important contribution to the future of the museum. The Friends' participation in the museum life and development is coordinated by the special international program: Hermitage Friends' Club. Many international and Russian companies, charitable organizations, foundations and individuals have already become Members of the Hermitage Friends' Club. Information on the programs implemented with the help of the Hermitage Friends is published each year in the Annual Report of the State Hermitage Museum. The State Hermitage Museum was the first museum in Russia to organize a Friends' society back in November 1996. Since that time, to be a Friend of the Hermitage has become a good tradition. Any private individual who has made a contribution to the State Hermitage Museum may become a Friend of the Hermitage. When making your contribution, you are welcome to choose the level of participation, as well as the project (group of projects) to which your donation will be applied.
The following Membership Levels are offered depending on the sum of your donation for one of the development programs:
All memberships are renewable annually All Hermitage Friends Personal Membership Card entitles its holder (according to the Membership Level chosen) to participate in the special program of visiting temporary exhibitions of the State Hermitage Museum, including the permanent displays and the Hermitage branches and centres in Russia and abroad (St. Petersburg, Kazan, Amsterdam).
The Holders of the Personal Membership Cards receive invitations for two persons to participate in special events arranged exclusively for the Hermitage Friends' Club Members. For Fellow Members, the Hermitage Friends' Club organizes a special tour of one of the Treasure Galleries of the State Hermitage Museum (Diamond Treasury or Gold Treasury). Patrons of the Hermitage Friends' Club are invited to take part in special museum programs, such as events organized within the VIP Programs.
HOW TO SUBSCRIBE Due to changes in the Russian legislation, at the moment the State Hermitage Museum needs to get a special permission to accept cash donations from non-residents of Russia. In the meantime, the Hermitage Friends' office encourages you to make your donation either by issuing a bank check or by a wire transfer from your bank account (not necessarily a Russian bank – the country is irrelevant). Bank check together with the filled-in form can either be mailed to the address of the Hermitage Fiends' Club or brought directly to the Friends' office (Komendantsky entrance). Please mention the project you are donating the money for, and the sum according to the category of the membership you chose. After receiving the documents we will be glad to send you by express-mail your personal Membership card or, in case of personal visit, immediately hand it over to you. Any commercial or non-commercial organization making a donation toward the development of the State Hermitage Museum can become A CORPORATE MEMBER of the international Hermitage Friends' Club. The donation may be made in the form of money or goods, services, materials, or special discounts for 'in-kind' donations. Your annual contribution defines the level of your participation in the life of the Museum. The Hermitage gratefully receives all donations and on its part grants special privileges to all Corporate club members. Corporate Membership Categories
