To the 400th anniversary since death of Michelangelo
Caravaggio
The ancient music ensemble "Laus Concentus" (Italy) performs
the programs In the light of the Sun based on the works of the age
of the great Italian painter Michelangelo Caravaggio. Next to his
masterpiece, the painting Young man with a lute, which is exhibited
in the Small Italian Skylight Room, the music of Italian composers of the 16th-17th centuries
will be performed by Renata Fusco (soprano),
Maurizio Piantelli (lute) and Massimo Lonardi (lute) among the paintings
of famous Italian painters in the Big Italian Opening.
The concert is organized in association with the Italian
Culture Institute in St Petersburg.

The Large Italian Skylight Room of the New Hermitage
(Entrance from the Palace berth, 45, by the entrance to the Hermitage
Theater)
Classic guitar quartet ("Meridion Guitar Quartet")
(Sweden) which consists of young musicians, laureates of international
contests and participants of numerous European festivals Peter Hallen,
Eric Strand, Per Norden and Rasmus Vamos present the program of German
and Spanish classic and modern music (Teleman, Albenis, Torroba).
11 July 8 p.m.
The yard of the New Hermitage
(Entrance from the berth of the Winter channel)
Outstanding trumpeter, recurrent laureate of Grammy award
Randy Breker (USA) in cooperation with Petersburg's pianist and composer
Andrei Kondakov, contrabassist Andrei Svetlov, guitarist Yakov Kremensky
and French drummer Loran Roben present the program of modern and classic
jazz music.
14 July 8 p.m.
The Big Yard of the Winter Palace
(entrance from the Palace Square, through the Main Gates)
The Bastille Day in the Hermitage
The anniversary festival is finished by the music and theater performance
of various musical, theatrical and dancing teams from France and Russia.
The culminating point of the evening will be the concert of the famous
French ensemble LO'JO (France).
The project was implemented within the framework of the Year
of Russia-France 2010 under the patronage of the Culture Ministry
of the Russian Federation conjointly with the French Institute in St Petersburg.
