Republic are among the authors. Articles published in the book deal with
the latest archeological exploration of ancient sites along the northern
coast of the Black Sea. They include studies by the staff of the Department
of the History of the Ancient World of the State Hermitage Museum who
introduce the results of unearthing the settlement on the island of Berezan
in 1987-1991 and the chora of Nympheum.
The book is dedicated to the late Yury G. Vinogradov (13 June, 1946 -
28 May, 2000), Professor of the Moscow University, the renowned scholar
who contributed so much to the study of the Northern Pontic archeology
and ancient history and was a major specialist in Greek epigraphy.
