Legends of West European Coins This is a reference book about legends of West European coins. Only inscriptions in Latin letters are considered. Appendix gives schedules showing the location of legends on coins. Numismatic publications of the author, Vsevolod Mikhaylovich Potin, are well known in the academic world. They have been read by generations of scholars. He has in his custody coins of all West European countries from the 5th to the 20th centuries. The book is intended for academic and museum scholars and collectors interested in West European coins. It may also be useful to general reading public interested in history. It includes more than 1100 inscriptions with translation into Russian. Short biographies and lists of works of medallists are given. The book published in 1000 copies is richly illustrated. |
