This is a book of prose and letters of one of the major French artists of the late 19th century Paul Gauguin. The book was put together, prefaced, annotated and partly translated by Dr. Asya Solomonovna Kantor-Gukovskaya of the State Hermitage Museum.

The book includes Gauguin's autobiography, Noa Noa and Before and After, essays about art and letters. Many of the texts are for the first time translated into Russian.

The book published in 5000 copies has many illustrations.
