in Russia in 1700-1917 The unique illustrated book traces the development of medal art in Russia. Authored by the Hermitage scholar, it publishes many materials for the first time. Many years of studying the Hermitage collection of Russian medals resulted in this book which considers medal as an artistic phenomenon. Along with general information about the basic periods and trends in the development of medal art among other arts in Russia, it presents about 100 individual masters. The book will be imminently interesting to historians and all lovers of history. |
