Early XIX century France Coronation garment of the viceroy of Italy Eugene Beauharnais (1805), adopted son of Napoleon I. Full-dress coat and overcoat of green silk are decorated with splendid embroidery of gold and silver, with badges of the orders of Legion d'honneur and Iron Crown introduced by Napoleon. Golden embroidery was the sign of might and power and was used specially for the court-dress coats and uniforms, approved by Napoleon. |
