1917

Designed by Piotr Krasnovsky. Worked by L. Orlovsky

Imperial Porcelain Factory and Glassworks

Multi-layered crystal glass, hand-blown, polished, carved, engraved and etched

This multi-layered glass Easter egg was created by one of the best engravers at the Imperial Porcelain Factory and Glassworks, Lavr Orlovsky. The saints depicted on it include the heavenly patrons of the imperial couple - St Nicholas, the Archbishop of Myra, and the martyr-princess Alexandra. The other saints here were members of the Russian ruling house: Grand Prince Vladimir, who made Christianity the state religion, and his grandmother Grand Duchess Olga, the martyr princes Boris and Gleb, Mikhail of Chernigov, Grand Duke Alexander Nevsky and the martyr Tsarevich Dmitry of Moscow.
