1778-80 Designed by Gavriil Kozlov Gardner factory Porcelain, with polychrome overglaze painting and gilding This service was commissioned by the court administration and intended for the banquet table in the Winter Palace during the annual receptions for members of the Order of St Vladimir. The service, consisting of a dessert section and a set of plates and soup plates, was made for 60 diners. It was designed by Gavriil Kozlov - a painter, decorative artist and director of the St Petersburg Tapestry Factory. The main motifs in the decoration of all items in the services are the badges and ribbon of the order instituted in 1782 as a civilian honour. |
