Kara-Depe Settlement

A frieze of six dappled, highly stylized snow leopards, arranged in pairs, adorns the upper part of this cup. This example of zoomorphic motifs is typical of pottery from the foothills of the Kopet-Dag mountains in southern Turkmenia during the Late Eneolithic period. It reflects the influence of the culture of ancient Persia.
