Three Women

Pablo Picasso

Oil on canvas; 200 x 185 cm

This is one of the most important of Picasso's Cubist works. He made about seventy sketches and rough drafts for it. The artist took the traditional subject of the Three Graces and reworked it in his own style. The group has a crystalline structure within which movement and immobility are equally present. The gracefulness of the figures is emphasized by the dominant reddish-brown tones.
