Rene-Jules Lalique

Between 1900 and 1905 Lalique's works moved away from Art Nouveau forms towards calmer and more balanced compositions; during this period he devoted considerable attention to functional objects such as combs, handbags, mirrors and watches. Using horn as the basic material in combination with silver, gold, opaline glass and precious stones, the artist achieved an effect of elegance and luxury.
