Wood, carved and gilt, upholstered in red velvet, silver embroidery
113 x 77 x 90 cm
This armchair is part of a suite
which was made for Louis XV's
daughter, the Princess of Parma,
who decorated her Italian palace
with furniture imported from Paris.
Unlike the other two armchairs of
this suite, now in collections in
the United States and France, the
Hermitage example has retained
its original upholstery with
embroidery on the back and seat,
which complements wonderfully
the carved decoration.
