Mid-13th century

Bronze, silver incrustation Diam 43.1 cm

The decoration of the dish combines motifs of Moslem and Christian art: surrounded by braiding are twelve medallions showing Christian saints, the ground is covered with exquisite floral ornament, and the bands bear representations of animals and Arabic inscriptions. Such objects were typical of 13th-century Syrian art.
