The museum possesses a unique collection of male garments from the first quarter of the 18th century - the Wardrobe of Peter I, which consists of over 300 items once worn by Peter I. According to a royal decree in the1700s, the traditional costumes of the boyars (the Russian nobility) were replaced with those of European cut, based on those fashionable at the court of Louis XIV of France.
