On the inner side of the drawer is a copper plate with the engraved profile of Alexander III and a medal "From the City of St. Petersburg," and the inscription N. Svirsky St. Petersburg. This multifunctional table, intended both for needlework and for writing, is a typical example of furniture in the Historicist style. A splendid combination of numerous decorative materials reveals the great skill of the furniture-makers of this factory. The table was probably exhibited at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1889, at which Nikolay Svirsky was awarded a gold medal.
