Seal with the Slepovron Coat-of-Arms
Late 18th-early 19th centuries
Golden quartz, silver and turquoise. 34 x 40 mm, height 62 mm
The seal was carved from a rectangular piece of golden quartz and placed in
a silver mount set with turquoise. At the top there is a spherical handle.
The matrix depicts the Polish Slepowron coat of arms (a raven perched
on a horseshoe with a ring in its beak) framed by trophies. Such an image
was very typical for the nobility living in the west and south-west regions
of Russia in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
