We Draw at the Hermitage On 29 December 2012 in the foyer of the Hermitage Theatre an exhibition was held of works produced by pupils at the Art Studio of the School Centre entitled We Draw at the Hermitage. Traditionally the exhibition has been accompanied by a New Year theatrical costume performance prepared by pupils of the Art Studio. A colourful procession of children dressed in costumes was led by State Hermitage Museum General Director Mikhail Piotrovsky and went through the museum’s halls to the Foyer. Here Mikhail Borisovich announced the opening of the exhibition and to show it, ceremoniously cut a ribbon with the children. Afterwards all went to the Hermitage Theatre. The artists took their place on the stage and the visitors in the hall. The performance began, the heroes of which took on the characters of fairytales and ancient myths, and shining heroes of the Patriotic War of 1812, display items and museum halls. For this celebration the children along with their parents prepared for two months: writing texts, making costumes and decorations. The performance was a reflection of the knowledge the children had acquired during a year of studies at the State Hermitage Museum.
