Exhibition of children's drawings We Are
Painting in the Hermitage
On 30 December, 2001- 17 February 2002
On 30 December, 2001, an annual exhibition of children's drawings was
opened in the Hermitage Theater's foyer. The exhibition has the traditional
title We Are Painting in the Hermitage. This is sort of a report
about the Painting Studio's activities during the previous year. For the
Studio it is the most important and demanding of all the local and international
exhibitions and competitions.
Lessons at the Hermitage allow young painters to get an insight into the
world of fine arts, acquire its first-hand experience, learn to think
creatively and master practical skills. The principal objective of the
lessons is to help children apply what they learn about fine arts at the
museum in their own works, modified by their individual understanding
of the subject, based on their own experience and knowledge gained from
the lessons. After children are explained the methods of fine arts, their
inborn creative faculty and love of play put this knowledge to use in
paintings combined with the children's own feelings, fantasies and imagination.
