Badges and stars of the Order of St George the Great Martyr and Vanquisher

The main decoration of the order was a cross with equal widening ends covered with white enamel. The central medallion of the obverse bore the image of St George on a white horse, the reverse bore the inscription Á³(for St George). The ribbon consists of three black and two yellow alternating strips. The golden star had four ends, the monogram and the device in the centre "For the Service and Valour". The order had four classes. The Cross of the Fourth Class decorated the left side of the breast and was worn on the St George ribbon, the Cross of the Third Class being of a bigger size was worn on the neck, the Cross of the Second class - on the neck with the star on the left side of the breast and the highest degree of the Cross - the First Class - was worn on the wide ribbon across the right shoulder with the star on the left side of the breast. The statute of the order said that it "should never be taken off". There was no special order's uniform though the statute of 1833 contained its description.
