Four Senses: Festivities in St. Petersburg in the 18th Century
5 June, 2003 - 15 November, 2003

This exhibition focuses on the culture of festivities in the 18th century. Works of art loaned by a few Russian museums show coronation celebrations, popular gatherings, illuminations, fireworks, military parades, theatrical performances, masquerade balls and carnivals.

The Hermitage has provided two paintings by unknown artists, Portrait of A.G. Bobrinsky (Youth in Masquerade Dress) (1770s) and Girl with Parrot (middle of the 18th century), prints showing pageants and fireworks and porcelain made at A.G. Popov's works.
