2012: Acquisition of George Machere and Nadya Volkonskaya's collection

In 2012 the Hermitage collection of the contemporary art was supplemented with the collection of works of the end of the 20th - beginning of the 21st century, owned by the family of George Machere and Nadya Volkonskaya. 848 post envelopes were decorated by the Soviet underground masters, Russian emigre artists and prominent figures of the Russian post-Soviet art scene. This collection which is a holistic collective project was purchased from the collector and donated to the State Hermitage by the AVC Charity Foundation. 200 envelopes were demonstrated in July at the exhibition in the Hermitage.
