"Today in the regimental club there was a graduation party for
the junior commanders who had just finished their training. Straight
after the party they all went off to the front. Some bigwigs came —
researchers from the Hermitage with Iosif Abgarovich Orbeli at the head.
After they left, the C.O. said, "I was a bit worried. I thought
he would arrive and run over scientific theory here for a couple of
hours — awkward to interrupt and people need to get off the front. But
it didn’t turn out bad. Although he’s an academic, he knows how to talk
simply."
