Anthony van Dyck 1621 Oil on canvas National Gallery, Washington The attribution of this portrait of Rubens's first wife that came from the Crozat collection and was long held to be by the artist himself has been changed by recent researches. Specialists are now inclined to believe that this is the very portrait that Van Dyck presented to Rubens as a token of gratitude on leaving the master's studio. |
