In 1857 the Raphael Loggias were given over to the Münzkabinett (numismatic department) and used to house the collection of Eastern coins. One of the walnut display cases contained 282 gold and 176 silver Iranian coins that had been acquired as part of the reparations agreed under the Turkmanchai peace treaty signed between Russia and Iran in 1828.
