Boy Blowing a Horn
Pietro Tacca
Circa 1620
Bronze
The Hermitage's statue of a Boy Blowing a Horn
is the work of the Carrara-based sculptor Pietro Tacca. In the 1620s
this bronze may have adorned a fountain in the courtyard of the
Palazzo del Antalla (later the Palazzo della Stufa) on the Piazza
Santa Croce in Florence. Until the early 20th century this work
was believed to be by another sculptor, Giovanni Bologna.
