Lessons in the Hermitage clubs will assist in learning of the school course of History, considerably broaden perspective, give an opportunity to understand peculiarities of culture of different nations and, may be, give a direction in choice of future occupation. The program is designed for several years and coordinated with the school course of History.

Students of the 6th grade will learn about art and culture of the Ancient World: secrets of Egypt and Mesopotamia, stories of "the world' miracles", everyday and festive life of the Greeks, Romans, Etruscans, and Scythians are waiting for them.

Students of the 7th grade will learn about the mysterious world of the Middle Ages and creative work of distinguished masters of the Renaissance.

Students of the 8th grade will expand their knowledge about national culture, its origin, work of icon painters and church builders, about the age of Peter the Great, brilliant age of Catherine II and victories of Russian armament in the 19th century.

Students of the 9th grade have an opportunity to choose subjects of lessons for the next 2-3years, in order to study the basis of archeology or masterpieces of Western European art or cultures of Orient countries in more details.

The Hermitage clubs are a kind of school of art history. For the first time, regular lessons with children started in the Hermitage a hundred years ago at the beginning of the 20th century. Lessons are held on the basis of a unique educational program, developed by the staff of the museum. The children are taught by art historians and archeologists. In exciting for they tell about culture and art of different ages and countries. The children have an opportunity to feel as researchers disclosing secrets of the past and the ones who want are able to try themselves in creative work, communicating with their like-minded people.

Lessons are free, they take place from October to May, once a week excluding Sunday and Monday, beginning at 4 p.m.
