The drawing studio was established in the Hermitage in 1957. Today there are 6 age groups in it and the number of children from 5 to 11 years old amounts to more than 100.

During classes in the studio children study the fundamentals of drawing, painting and composition. In the Museum rooms they get acquainted with visual and applied art and acquire their first knowledge of the theory and history of art. This knowledge is manifested during the annual summarising exhibition called "We Draw in the Hermitage"

At the head of the studio is Boris Kravchunas, member of the Union of Artists of Russia, Doctor of Arts.
