The staff of the School Centre work in cooperation with the teachers of kindergartens of Saint-Petersburg. The teachers are trained at specialised course in the Hermitage and then run excursions round the rooms of the Museum for children themselves. They present to them the art of the Ancient World, Middle Ages, Italian Renaissance and culture of Russia of Peter I time.The series of excursions is finished with the art of 20th century. The teachers pay much attention to preliminary work before they bring children to the Museum. After excursions children draw and paint, take part in performances to consolidate the acquired knowlege about the Museum. In 1998 one of these kindergartens with the authorised programme ranked among the best 50 kindergartens of the Russian Federation.
