The scale and level of the Hermitage collection make it possible to present the history of world culture from ancient times to the present day. All the most outstanding phenomena and most important artistic processes which determined the look of European and Russian culture, as well as the cultures of the Ancient World and the Orient are reflected in the collections of this celebrated museum. Programs prepared by the team of the Public Education Department based on the Hermitage collections are devoted to many different issues of the history and theory of world art.
