The Computer Center was created for students who are members of the Hermitage Student Club, auditors of Hermitage seminars, young tour guides and guide-interpreters, employees of the Hermitage and other museums, volunteer workers at the Hermitage, and trainees.

Users of the Computer Center may work with CD-ROMs which describe the history, collections and architecture of the Hermitage or which are dedicated to broader historical and cultural topics. In the future there are plans for the Computer Center to form the basis for a center of distance learning.
