2009
5 December 2009 the Volunteers' Day was celebrated at the State
Hermitage. The official part and the ceremony of awarding the best volunteers
were held at the Art Restoration and Storage Center Staraya Derevnya where
an excursion and a theatrical performance were organized. Vladimir Matveev,
Deputy Director of the State Hermitage, took the floor with words of gratitude
and congratulations.
The celebration passed on to the Winter Palace where in association with the Archaeology
Department of Eastern Europe and Siberia and the School
Center the ceremony of awarding the participants of the children's computer
competition Old and Unusual organized by the Volunteers' Service in cooperation
with the Educational Center of Computer Equipment was held. Anyone was
able participate in an interactive game The Scythian's Day. The International
Volunteers' Day was concluded by the celebration of all the city's volunteer
organizations invited to the German-Russian Exchange.
28 October 2009 the 250th anniversary of the birthday of an outstanding
Russian architect A. Voronchikhin took place. Among the variety of events
dedicated to this remarkable date was a conference which was attended
by volunteers who were kindly invited by A. Voronchikhin's descendant,
hegumen Alexander Fyodorov, Chairman of the Architectural Commission under
the St Petersburg Eparchy of the Russian Orthodox Church.
14-29 July 2009 within the framework of the project
WHY - World Heritage & Youth the Volunteers'
Service in association with the Rosatom State Corporation
implemented a two-week program in which the participants
met with museums' guardians, specialists-restorers, and participated
in discussions and master classes. Rosatom's volunteers presented
PR-projects meant to raise awareness to the problem of preserving
architectural monuments such as the church of Lurdskaya
Mother of God, the Kirianovo estate, the Chesmensky palace
and the Smolensk Lutheran cemetery.
27 May 2009 for the City Day the Hermitage's volunteers in association
with the UCVT educational center held a children's competition
of multi media projects The Favorite City's Autograph.
16 May 2009 the Volunteers' Service of the State
Hermitage took part in the Good St Petersburg Summer City
Charitable Festival.
22-25 April 2009 at the festival Days of Classics 2009
devoted to the culture and art of the Ancient
world the volunteers not only helped to hold exhibitions,
competitions, seminars and concerts but also developed the game
Volunteer Games.
19-26 April 2009 the volunteers of the State Hermitage
took part in the Spring Goodness Week 2009 devoted
to the Year of Youth. Results were summarized at the Smolny
where the most active volunteers were invited.
18 April 2009 the volunteers celebrated the International
Day of Monuments and Historical Places. Due to the cooperation
with the Committee for Protection of Monuments the volunteers
visited the publicly closed Palace of the Great Prince
Alexey Alexandrovich and the Baron Kelekh villa.
28 March 2009 during the traditional March Cat Days the Volunteers'
Service actively helped to organize various competitions, events
and exhibitions. The volunteers also prepared the game
Kotovasia and a competition of children's multi
media projects (in association with the UCVT educational
center).
27 February 2009 the opening of the Volunteers'
Club was held. The event was organized by the Volunteers'
Coalition which includes the Volunteers' Service of the State
Hermitage and other volunteer organizations. In the Kushelev-Bezborodko
Small Marble Palace a German film Educators was shown and a hot
discussion entitled Idealism and Conformism was held.
13 January 2009 the Old New Year was held at Ropsha.
This day in 1826 Nicholas I presented his spouse Alexandra
Fedorovna with the Ropsha villa as a New Year gift.
For the annual celebration the Rospha school prepared a festive
performance and the volunteers treated everyone with a Kinder-punch
made by the empress's recipe.
