This is one of the largest interiors of the New Hermitage - the
Imperial Museum designed by Leo von Klenze in the mid-19th century.
The hall was originally decorated with paintings in the "Neo-Greek"
style and was meant for the exhibition of the collection of coins.
Today it houses the collection of West-European arms and armour
of the 15th-17th centuries featuring a wide range of battle, tournament
and hunting weapons, including both side-arms and fire-arms. The
rich material of the exhibition gives one a chance to trace the
stages of technical evolution and the development of decorative
styles in European arms and armour.
