This small room of the New Hermitage is now used to exhibit the splendid frescoes that formerly decorated the Villa Spada in Italy. These works from Raphael's workshop are devoted to Venus, the goddess of love. Also on display is the sculpture Crouching Boy (1530-34) by Michelangelo Buonarroti, a true masterpiece of the Hermitage collection of Italian art. It was probably designed for the Medici Chapel in Florence.
