This is the former private room of Empress Maria Alexandrovna,
wife of Emperor Alexander II. The room's sumptuous décor was designed
in 1853 by the architect Harald Bosse, well-known for his skilful
reinterpretations of Baroque interiors. The red brocatelle used
for the curtains and on the walls and seats came from the Cartier
Company in Paris. The ornatedraperies and upholsteries, the eleant
patterns of ornaments and the soft gilt furniture create a luxurious
and comfortable interior. The gilt bronze chandelier reflecting
in the mirrors splendidly complements the overall decoration.
