13: The Denis Room
1899 Vuillard, Jean Edouard Vuillard became a close friend of Bonnard and was one of the founders of the Nabi group in 1888. His small bright paintings, comprised, as it were, of several zones of colour like a mosaic anticipated the discoveries of Fauvism that succeeded the Impressionist perception of the world. While depicting the everyday life of the ordinary individual he created astonishingly decorative compositions. Later he developed a fondness for large coloured surfaces that resulted in huge decorative panels. |
