3: The Study
Officer's Dress Uniform of the Chevaliergard Regiment 1815 Russia This style of uniform — worn for festive occasions and balls — appeared in 1802 and remained in use with minor alterations until 1855. This particular example belonged to Emperor Alexander I. As colonel-in-chief of the guards regiments, Alexander possessed the uniforms of each one and appeared in them for regimental festivals and parades. The Hermitage collection contains several dozen items from Alexander I’s military wardrobe. |
