The drawing-room was designed by Carlo Rossi in the first quarter of the 19th century and formed part of the apartments of Countess Maria Nesselrode. The small corner room is notable for refined combination of the light-coloured walls with the painted frieze and ceiling decorated with the images of cupids and flowers. The projecting cornice, a characteristic element of Rossi’s interiors, is richly adorned with stucco ornament and gilding. Opposite the windows is a semicircular niche diminishing the effect of the room’s irregular shape. The marble mantelpiece is decorated with two gilt bronze candelabra and a bronze clock The Apollo's Chariotmade in France in the late 18th century. The console table The Sea - Bed produced in the workshop of Jacob-Desmalter is worthy of particular note. It belonged to Empress Josephine when she lived in the château of Malmaison, later it was inherited by her son Eugène.
