About 70 works are on display in the sculpture repository of the
Department of the History of Western European Art. They cover a
period from the 14th century to the middle of the 20th and are portrait
busts, statues, park and garden sculpture, reliefs, sculptural groups
on mythological, historical and religious themes, elements of the
architectural decoration of buildings and gardens. The fairly small
temporary exhibition contains works by sculptors of a variety of
schools. There is monumental decorative sculpture, a bust of Nicholas
I (Russia, 19th century), a portrait of a girl in a laurel wreath
by Giuseppe Bessi (1915), a portrait of an unknown man by Ch. Statler
(1858), a portrait of Kaiser Wilhelm II by Ch. Hofmeister and a
portrait of a youth by a French 18th-century sculptor.
