Carved and gilded mahogany with silk

The armchair and the chair come from the furniture suite of the Drawing room. The armchair has the characteristic Empire tub shape, but the carved and gilded "Gothic silhouette" inset testifies to new Romantic trends in the furniture-making of the 1820s-40s.
