Carved by Lavr Orlovsky Imperial Porcelain Factory and Glassworks Multi-layer crystal glass, blown, ground, carved, engraved and etched This multi-layer glass Easter egg was created by one of the finest engravers at the Imperial Porcelain Factory and Glassworks, Lavr Orlovsky. It presents a selection of saints that includes the heavenly patrons of the imperial couple - St Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia, and the martyr queen Alexandra. The other figures are saints from Russia's ruling houses: Grand Prince Vladimir and Grand Princess Olga, reckoned the equal of the apostles for their having brought Christianity to Russia, the pious martyr princes Boris and Gleb, St Mikhail of Chernigov, the sainted Grand Prince Alexander Nevsky and the martyr Tsarevich Dmitry of Moscow. |
