1913 Designed by Adolf Amberg Royal Porcelain Factory, Berlin, Germany This genuflecting Egyptian bearing a shell containing pearls is one of twenty figures belonging to the Wedding Procession table ornament. The project was commissioned from the sculptor Adolf Amberg (1878-1913) in anticipation of the marriage between Wilhelm, Crown Prince of Germany and Prussia, and Duchess Cecilie of Mecklenburg. It was not realized for the nuptials, which took place in 1905, but Amberg’s models were bought up by the Berlin factory between 1908 and 1910 for production in limited editions. |
