This part of the Winter Palace formerly contained service rooms. The display features archaeological finds from the northern Black Sea area and the northern Caucasus. It includes dress weapons and utensils, elements of horse harness and ornaments of clothing from the burial mounds of Scythian and Sarmatian rulers (5th century B.C. - 1st century A.D.). The room also contains articles from the Pereshchepina hoard (7th century) and pieces of jewellery from ancient Iran, Byzantium, Egypt, Armenia, Georgia and the Caucasus.
