The magnificent interior of this "Cabinet of Sculpture" contains a display of works from the late republic and early empire (1st century B.C. - 1st century A.D.), one of the most brilliant periods in the history of Ancient Roman art. The collection of sculptural portraits is represented by a gallery of images of the rulers of Rome - Octavian Augustus and members of his family, the Emperors Tiberius and Nero. Outstanding among the early works are a bronze Portrait of a Roman and a Double Portrait - a tombstone depicting brothers. In the room you can also see portrait gems and articles of applied art.
