This room presents works of French art from the second half of the 15th century through to the 17th. In the display of ceramics from the 16th and 17th centuries there are four unique items from Saint-Porchaire made of white clay with insets in two darker shades of clay. The creations of Bernard Palissy and his followers include "rustic ware" - dishes decorated with relief depictions of fish and reptiles. Visitors' attention is drawn by the painted portraits of the 16th century: Portrait of a Young Man by Pierre Dumoustier and Portrait of Henri, duc d'Anjou(?) by an unknown artist, as well as The Lamentation by Jacques Bellange, an outstanding member of the Lorraine school.
