This is the former Large Drawing-room in the First Reserve Apartment that was decorated by Alexander Briullov after the 1837 fire. It is used to display part of the collection of French 18th-century decorative and applied art. The tapestries were made at the famous Gobelins (Door-curtains of the Gods) and Beauvais (Grotesques of the Gods) factories, the patterned fabric in Lyons. The display-cases contain articles of soft-paste porcelain made at the Sevres, Vincennes and Mennecy factories as well as faience. In the centre of the room is a statue of Catherine II in the guise of Minerva by Jean-Pierre Tassaert. The display also includes furniture and a long-case clock made in Paris.
