This is one of the three large rooms in the New Hermitage
intended for the display of big canvases, The vault and frieze are
covered with gilded mouldings. The vase and torchères were
made from Korgon porphyry and decorated with ormolu. The display presents
Spanish 17th- and 18th-century painting. Here you can see two paintings
by the great Spanish master Velazquez - Luncheon and Portrait
of Olivares (1638), as well as works by other celebrated 17th-century
artists - Ribera, Zurbaran and Cano, and a large collection of Murillos. |
